Idem Translations was a proud sponsor of the 49th annual American Translators Association (ATA) Conference.
ATA is a professional association founded to advance the translation and interpreting professions and foster the professional development of individual translators and interpreters. Its 10,000 members in more than 90 countries include translators, interpreters, teachers, project managers, web and software developers, language company owners, hospitals, universities, and government agencies.
At this year’s conference, Idem focused on their recent partnership with Kiva.org
, a non-profit organization providing small loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries. Idem provides pro-bono and at-cost translations for Kiva’s legal documents and due diligence process.
ProZ.com is home to a highly respected community of language professionals who regularly interact within the site’s online marketplace. Thousands of linguists and translation companies network via ProZ.com each day. In September of 2008, Idem completed ProZ.com’s Certified PRO program, earning the “ProZ.com Certified PRO” title and seal. To be awarded this certification, a translation company must meet certain criteria, including Standards compliance or Defined processes, Business reliability, and Good citizenship.
In order to meet these requirements, Idem had to provide a statement of existing processes, maintain a good ProZ.com Blueboard record, earn positive customer, provider or partner references, maintain above-average company performance for two years, possess ProZ.com corporate membership, endorse professional guidelines, and exhibit excellent conduct.
Idem is honored to have been awarded the “ProZ.com Certified PRO” title and seal, and we will continue serving our clients and community with excellence.
On June 13th, 2008, Idem renewed its ISO 9001:2000 certification. To obtain such a certification, an organization must adhere to a strict set of standardized requirements for a quality management system. These requirements provide a systematic approach to process management, and are intended to promote consistency in an organization’s products and client satisfaction. Idem routinely audits its ISO 9001:2000-based quality system to ensure its ongoing efficiency. ISO certification is vital component of Idem’s commitment to consistently provide translations of the utmost quality.
April 16th, 2008. Palo Alto, California. Idem Translations is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Kiva.org to assist this organization with its translation needs.
Named as one of the top ideas in 2006 by the New York Times Magazine, Kiva.org is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, enabling individuals to make a loan (from just $25) to a developing world entrepreneur – such as a goat herder in Uganda or a carpet weaver in Afghanistan.
“We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to assist Kiva.org in its mission to alleviate poverty around the world. Since its inception Idem has been deeply committed to meeting its corporate responsibilities by offering pro bono services to organizations that serve the world community.” explained Mariam Nayiny, President of Idem Translations.
Idem Translations generously supports Kiva.org by providing translation services for projects requiring legal, financial, and other technical expertise. With its specialized network of professional translators, Idem enables Kiva.org to serve its Field Partners with expertly translated communications and documents, as well as offering support for Kiva’s due diligence process.
Idem’s annual party was held on April 4. And this time around, we celebrated with even bigger cheer as we marked 25 years in the translation industry!
This was a momentous occasion for us, thanks in huge part to our clients and to the translators who have always supported and who continue to support us.
We’d like to thank you all for making our twenty-five years a success, and here’s to many more successful endeavors!
